Alone In Exile
04:28
|
|||
Voices argue in your head all day
And You don’t trust them anymore
But they persuade you to OBEY
In a language you’ve not heard before
From ten thousand puzzle pieces
You try to remember what you’re worth
But a picture never forms for you
Is nothing sacred left on this earth?
In a bombshell it’s revealed to you
you’re a child lost in a zoo
You’ve been feeding your denial
but now you know it must be true,
you’re alone in exile
Shouting at streetlights, looking for a fight, in a world of chaos, you’re the boss

Heroin for the World
04:50
|
|||
Late one night I’m dreaming, that the world and me are meetin’
It announces gangs are scheming, to treat it with disdain
I lay my hands upon it and ask it to explain
It tells me sores are burnin’ but nobody knows to care
I ask it where the hurt is, and it cries out 'everywhere!'
It strips down to an abscess, calling god as witness,
Confirming diagnosis, we seek to treat the sickness
It tells me, ‘use your wisdom, to succour me with quickness
all my bones are broken, and the bruising black as sin’
I ask it what the cure is, and it whispers 'heroin…'
I wake up in the morning, remembering what we spoke
Outside prayers are calling for the nations without hope
And on my street a homeless man is hanging up a rope
A scribbled sign next to his tin says ‘The healing must begin’
I ask him what his need is, and he begs for heroin…

Come With Us
04:02
|
|||
Come with us, to Damascus
Come with us, on a blue bus
Come with us, commands Judas
Come with us, it’s miraculous
Come with us, and be promiscuous
Come with us, sweet Morpheus
Come with us, we supply the high
Come with us, we’re dangerous
There’s nothing to lose, except for yourself
A chance to deny fortune itself
We’re going on a ride, the best that you’ll take
First we destroy, and then we remake
Come with us, we made a virus
Come with us, we’re delirious
Come with us, strange animus
Come with us, and be glorious
Come with us, and be glorious
G-L-O-R-R-R-R—I-U-S
G-L-O-R-I-U-S
We can be glorious

Don't Die Disappointed
04:32
|

Growing up around the swamplands of Huddersfield, I heard the broken bluesmen stomping their clogs and thumping out 12-bar ballads ‘bout shoddy textile mills and knackered pit ponies and I promised myself I wasn’t gonna die disappointed. I told myself I gotta get outta this place and find out who I am and what I was born to do. So I stole a gitar, taught myself some licks and first chance I got I high-tailed it to the city of Wakefield where I could be somebody.
Don’t Die Disappointed
Put some creases in your walking shoes
Toss a coin at the dusty crossroads
and leave behind those hometown blues
Don’t Die Disappointed
run rebel juices down your lips and legs
Rock and Roll in the fruits of the garden
Drink it all from the brim to the dregs
Awright, so maybe Wakefield wasn’t such a good idea. Maybe my ambition should have extended further. Leeds, maybe. I coulda been somebody in Leeds. They got industrial Goth in Leeds. And Gang of Four came from there. Anyways, I wrote this song which is somethin to remind ya, You don’t get much time in the garden, so Don’t Die Disappointed.
